About ncpai
our story
NCPAI began as a community of photographers connected by a shared passion for newborn photography, learning, and supporting one another. As the profession evolved, so did the awareness that newborn photography is about far more than creating beautiful images. It requires specialised knowledge, thoughtful preparation, and a deep understanding of safe handling and ethical practices. Conversations within the community increasingly centred on newborn safety, with photographers seeking reliable education and clear guidance to help them work responsibly.
At the same time, parents became more informed about the importance of choosing photographers who prioritise their baby’s safety and wellbeing. This growing awareness highlighted the need for recognised standards that would inspire confidence in both photographers and families.
Recognising this need, NCPAI evolved from a learning community into a professional organisation dedicated to advancing newborn photography safety through education, certification, and the promotion of best practices. Today, NCPAI continues to support photographers in building the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to conduct safe, ethical, and responsible newborn photography sessions—helping raise the standard of care across the profession, one photographer at a time.
